MARKETPLACE INSURANCE SCAMS
The Health Insurance Marketplace is experiencing increased scams by some agents and brokers, including signing you up for coverage without your knowledge or switching your existing plan.
Protect Yourself:
- Agents and brokers need your permission to sign you up or change your plan.
- Be wary of health insurance ads offering cash, gifts, or perks; these could be scams. Don't share personal information.
- Use trusted sources like HealthCare.gov or call 1-800-318-2596 for legitimate help.
If You Suspect Unauthorized Changes:
- If you notice suspicious changes, call the Marketplace Call Center at 1-800-318-2596 (TTY: 1-855-889-4325).
- Representatives can cancel unauthorized plans, reenroll you in your chosen plan, ensure costs are repaid, and correct tax forms.
