Overview
A diverticulum is a sac that develops in the lining of the bowel or bladder. These sacs are common.
Symptoms
Symptoms are rare. However, sacs that develop in the colon may bleed or break, causing a serious condition called diverticulitis.
Treatments
Treatment for diverticulitis may include antibiotics or surgery.
