Encephalitis

Overview

Encephalitis is inflammation of the brain, often due to infection. Severe cases can be life-threatening.

Symptoms

Immediate medical attention is needed for signs and symptoms such as confusion, hallucinations, seizures, weakness, and loss of sensation. Mild cases may cause no symptoms or mild flu-like signs and symptoms, such as fever and headache.
