Cancer that starts in the vagina

Overview

Vaginal cancer is a growth of cells that starts in the vagina. The vagina is a muscular tube that connects the womb to the outer genitals.

Symptoms

Symptoms include vaginal bleeding that isn't typical, such as bleeding after menopause or after sex. Other symptoms include a lump in the vagina, painful urination, constipation and pelvic pain.

Treatments

Treatments may include surgery and radiation therapy. Other treatments include chemotherapy and immunotherapy.
