Description

Bleeding from the vagina that isn't typical or linked to menstrual periods.

When to seek immediate medical care

See a health care professional right away if:

  • Pregnant.
  • A lot of bleeding or bleeding that won't stop.

When to make a doctor's appointment

Make an appointment to see your care team if:

  • Past menopause.
  • No signs of periods starting or younger than age 8.
  • Belly or vaginal pain.
  • Bloated.
  • Bleeding gets worse.
