Description
A spleen that's larger than usual, also called enlarged spleen.
Self-care
To lower the risk of an enlarged spleen bursting, avoid contact sports. Wear a seat belt in the car. Keep vaccinations up to date to lower the risk of infection.
When to seek immediate medical care
See a health care professional right away for pain in the upper left belly, especially if it's very bad or it gets worse with deep breaths.
