JMH Earns Another “A” Hospital Safety Grade From The Leapfrog Group
Fall 2025 Safety Grade is a national recognition for commitment to patient safety
November 13, 2025
Johnson Memorial Health
Johnson Memorial Health earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country using evidence-based measures of patient safety focused exclusively on errors, accidents, Leapfrog injuries and infections.
“An ‘A’ grade from The Leapfrog Group is a reflection of the culture of safety we’ve built here at Johnson Memorial Health,” said Dr. David Dunkle, President and CEO. “Every member of our team, whether they provide direct patient care or support those who do, plays a role in keeping our patients safe. This recognition affirms our goal of putting the patient first and doing what’s right for those who trust us with their care.”
“Earning an ‘A’ Grade means Johnson Memorial Health made a true commitment to put patient safety first,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We congratulate the leadership, board of trustees, clinicians, staff and volunteers that all had a role to play in this achievement.”
This is the third national honor JMH has earned for quality and patient safety in the last year. In November of 2024, JMH also earned an ‘A’ safety grade from the Leapfrog group, one of only a few Indiana hospitals to earn the highest mark. And earlier this year, JMH achieved a 5-star quality rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
