BOT-Sandi-HuddlestonFranklin, IN – Johnson Memorial Health announced today that longtime Board of Trustees member Sandi Huddleston will retire from the board when her current term ends in July, marking the end of two decades of dedicated service to JMH and the community.

“It has been one of the greatest honors of my life to serve on the JMH Board,” said Huddleston. “I’ve had the privilege of working with talented leaders, dedicated caregivers and fellow board members who all share a common goal—providing Johnson County and surrounding communities with quality health care. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together, and I know the future of JMH is in excellent hands.”

Appointed to the Board in 2005, Huddleston served as Chairperson from 2009 to 2020, leading JMH through a major period of transformation. Her steady leadership was particularly vital during the COVID pandemic, when the hospital faced unprecedented operational and clinical challenges. During her tenure, JMH completed major facility upgrades, expanded its medical service lines, and strengthened its position as a trusted health care provider in the region.

“Sandi has played a significant role in the growth and accomplishments we have seen in the past 20 years,” said Dr. David Dunkle, President and CEO of Johnson Memorial Health. “Her guidance, commitment and deep understanding of the community have helped shape the future of health care in Johnson County. We are incredibly grateful for her leadership and the legacy she leaves behind.”

R. Martin Umbarger, Chairperson of the JMH Board of Trustees, praised Huddleston for her years of dedicated service.

“Sandi has been an exceptional leader, colleague and friend,” Umbarger said. “She brought compassion, experience and common sense to every decision. Her impact will be felt for generations to come, and she will be deeply missed on the Board.”

In addition to her service on the JMH Board of Trustees, Huddleston also serves on the JMH Foundation Board. She is the past Chair of the Johnson County Republican Party and is a past Vice Chair of the Indiana Republican State Committee. She is the past President of the Indiana Federation of Republican Women and has been a Delegate to the National Republican Convention and Indiana Republican State Convention.

Huddleston is also the past Executive Director of the Richard G. Lugar Excellence in Public Service, Inc. A graduate in Elementary Education from Indiana University, she is a former teacher in the Franklin and Danville Community School Corporations.

The JMH Board of Trustees is just one example of Sandi’s dedication to community service. She has also served on the boards and in various leadership positions for the Franklin United Methodist Community, the Johnson County Community Foundation, the Women's Fund of Central Indiana, the Indiana Commission on Women, Irwin Union Bank, Zeta Associate Chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa Sorority and Franklin Women's Study Club.
